Dr. Brian Kent-Smith | OphthalmologistÂ
Brian Kent-Smith leads Eye Specialists as the owner and team leader. He honed his expertise at St John Eye Hospital, a division of Baragwanath Hospital in Soweto, where he performed numerous operations. Brian holds fellowships from the College of Surgeons of South Africa (Ophthalmology) since 1995 and the Royal Australian and NZ College of Ophthalmologists since 2006. He has been with Whangarei Area Hospital since 1997 while running a part-time private practice since 2000. Outside of work, Brian enjoys cycling, running, swimming, fishing, scuba diving, and photography.
Dr. Stef Guglielmetti | Ophthalmologist
Dr. Stefano Guglielmetti, a fellowship-trained ophthalmologist, joined Eye Specialists in January 2023. He specializes in corneal, cataract, and refractive surgery, with expertise gained from fellowships at Moorfields Eye Hospital, UK. Previously in private practice in Johannesburg, he now offers services such as Implantable Contact Lens (ICL) surgery and presbyopia-correcting lenses. Proficient in managing glaucoma and age-related macular degeneration, Dr. Guglielmetti is a Fellow of prestigious institutions including the Royal College of Australian and New Zealand Ophthalmologists and the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada.
