Pterygium TreatmentsIf the pterygium is causing irritation or discomfort, this may be resolved by the use of moisturising or soothing eye drops.Surgical removal may be indicated for the following reasons:
Surgical removal is usually done under local anaesthesia. The pterygium is excised and a graft taken from the conjunctiva, the membrane over the white of the eye. This is secured in place either with dissolvable sutures or with a tissue glue. Your eye specialist can advise you on your treatment options. |
